SAARC DOCUMENTATION CENTRE (SDC) WORKSHOP ON “DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL LIBRARIES USING OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE”

Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information Centre (PASTIC) is the National Focal Point of SDC in Pakistan and responsible for coordination with SDC for participation of Pakistan in the activities of SDC.

SAARC Documentation Centre (SDC) is regional Centre of SAARC in New Delhi, India and acts as an effective information system for the SAARC member states that enables exchange of information in the areas of biological, physical, chemical, engineering and life sciences as well as in developmental matters.

SDC acts as a repository of documents/reports produced in region and on the region in scientific, technical, economical, industry-related and developmental matters. Human resource Development is also another important activity of SDC. Therefore SDC conducts different training programs and workshops in this regard.

SDC is organizing the above mentioned workshop in collaboration with Sir Dorabji Tata Memorial Library, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai on “Design and Development of Digital Libraries Using Open Source Software” from 14-18 December, 2009 at Mumbai, India (Click here for detail).

SDC will sponsor two candidates from each member state for participation in this workshop. Registration and local hospitality of this five days workshop will be taken care of by SDC, whereas international traveling will be the responsibility of the nominee. Nominations after approval from the concerned authorities may be sent to PASTIC latest by 15 th November 2009 for forwarding the same to SAARC Documentation Centre, New Delhi, India through Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan.
