A Union Catalogue is a selective or comprehensive list of catalogue entries computed to indicate the holdings of more than one library. It is a reference information tool, which helps in promotion and encouragement of research due to easy access to more readily available information material in a region or a country. 

The present Union Catalogue of Scientific Periodicals compiled by PASTIC is a valuable information tool on availability of scientific periodicals in 200 libraries of the country. The objective behind compilation of this Union Catalogue is to identify the information resources available in the country and to share these resources for promotion of R&D activities. The information about each periodical in this catalogue includes its title, country of origin, frequency, year, volume number, issue numbers, name of the library holding the periodical and city of its location. Codes are used for representing frequency, country of origin, name of library and city of location of library for the periodicals included in this catalogue. Periodicals included in this catalogue are arranged in an alphabetic order by titles.
