Islamabad, October 5, 2026: The Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC), National Centre, Islamabad, in collaboration with the Directorate General Civil Defence and the National Institute of Fire Technology (NIFT), organized a one-day training workshop on “Fire Safety & Workplace Safety” at the PASTIC National Centre, Quaid-i-Azam University Campus, Islamabad.
The workshop was organized to enhance awareness and preparedness among the employees, officers and officials of PASTIC regarding workplace safety, fire prevention, emergency response and practical hazard mitigation.
During the training, participants were briefed on important aspects of fire and workplace safety, including identification of electrical and physical hazards, fire hazard prevention, emergency response and evacuation procedures, and the proper selection and handling of fire extinguishers.
A live mock emergency exercise was also conducted as part of the workshop. The practical exercise provided participants with hands-on exposure to emergency response and evacuation procedures and highlighted the importance of remaining calm, alert and prepared during emergency situations.
Mr. Muhammad Abdul Hadi, Instructor, National Institute of Fire Technology (NIFT), Islamabad, served as the resource person and trainer. He provided practical guidance to participants on fire prevention, emergency preparedness and the safe use of fire-fighting equipment.
The training emphasized the importance of adopting preventive safety measures and following established safety protocols to minimize workplace risks and ensure the safety of personnel and organizational facilities.
The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering a strong culture of safety, preparedness, and responsible workplace practices at PASTIC. The initiative reflects PASTIC’s continued efforts to enhance the professional capacity, safety awareness, and emergency preparedness of its workforce.
