Islamabad, October 31, 2025 — The Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC) successfully concluded its two-day Training Workshop on “AI & Data Sciences: Advancing Research Across All Sciences”, held on October 30–31, 2025, at the PASTIC National Centre, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Campus, Islamabad.

This workshop, forming Batch #2 of PASTIC’s ongoing series on “Artificial Intelligence for All Sciences,” brought together 20 participants representing a range of institutions including Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Capital University of Science & Technology (CUST), Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), and the Sindh Education Department. Participants hailed from diverse academic and research backgrounds—such as Zoology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Social Sciences—demonstrating the truly interdisciplinary impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science in advancing modern research.

The training aimed to equip researchers, faculty members, and students with foundational and practical knowledge of AI concepts, data analytics, and their applications in scientific research. Through interactive sessions, participants learned how AI can accelerate discovery, improve data interpretation, and foster innovation across multiple scientific disciplines.

During the two-day program, sessions covered topics including machine learning fundamentals, data visualization, research data management, and AI-driven problem-solving in scientific contexts. The workshop featured hands-on demonstrations, case studies, and discussions to help participants understand how AI can be effectively integrated into ongoing research projects.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, Director General, PASTIC, highlighted the strategic importance of AI and Data Science in shaping the future of research and development in Pakistan.

“Artificial Intelligence is no longer confined to computer science alone—it is transforming every discipline, from life sciences to social sciences,” said Dr. Shaikh. “Through these workshops, PASTIC aims to build national capacity by empowering researchers with the knowledge and tools needed to apply AI effectively in their respective fields.”

He further emphasized PASTIC’s commitment to fostering an innovation-driven research ecosystem, stating that such initiatives are crucial to achieving Pakistan’s vision for a knowledge-based economy.

Participants appreciated PASTIC’s efforts in organizing the training and providing a collaborative platform for interdisciplinary learning. Many expressed that the workshop enhanced their understanding of how AI techniques can be used to address real-world challenges in research.

By organizing regular workshops, seminars, and training programs, PASTIC seeks to equip Pakistan’s scientific community with 21st-century skills, fostering a culture of innovation and digital transformation in research institutions across the country.
